Deadline looming to apply for the UK’s most prestigious award … the King’s Award

Time is quickly running out for businesses to apply for the UK’s most prestigious awards … the King’s Awards for Enterprise.

The deadline is September 9, 2025 with the winners officially announced in November 2025 and invited to attend a Royal Garden Party in May 2026.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious business awards, recognising outstanding achievements in Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity.

The application forms are very comprehensive and can take up to 50 hours to compete which is why they are seen as such an honour.

Yorkshire journalist Andy Hirst has helped companies with application forms for the King’s Awards forerunner, the Queen’s Awards, and also charities to achieve the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Two successes are Bradford-based Astonish Cleaning Products which was awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade and Huddersfield company Environmental Defence Systems which won the Innovation Award for its pioneering lithium battery fire mitigation bags which are now on board around 17,000 aircraft worldwide.

Last year Andy helped Huddersfield charity Uniform Exchange win the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Andy said: “Applying for a King’s Award is a complex and time-consuming process. The judges ask very detailed and searching questions and expect applicants to spend around 50 hours gathering the information and filling in the forms.

“This translates to between 5,000 and 7,000 words plus detailed financial information. It’s a very comprehensive process and that’s why these awards are the highest accolade any business can achieve.

“To be able to use the King’s Award logo on your products can be a massive boost for sales, especially overseas, but also proves to people they are dealing with a company that is one of the best in its field of business.”

Andy added: “There must be many other Yorkshire companies out there who deserve such a high accolade and really ought to think about applying for a King’s Award. Time is now really short to start the application process so if any companies need help they would need to contact me now.”

Andy also secured phenomenal news coverage for Greater Manchester engineering company Chelburn Precision Ltd which won the Queen’s Award in 2021. Read more about that here https://ah-pr.com/work/great-media-coverage-for-award-winning-ah-pr-client
