Howzat!  AH! PR gets some great coverage for cricket gear company

AH! PR has got a Yorkshire cricket company some great coverage … and the owner is delighted.

Andy Hirst from AH! PR interviewed Viking Cricket owner Jeff Wilson and wrote a story about how the Keighley-based company had transformed cricket equipment for women.

Most cricket gear was traditionally designed for men with women often relying on hand-me-down kit but that’s now all changed after Viking Cricket designed the very best-fitting equipment for girls and women known as the Viking Valkyrie range. Many top female players now use the Viking gear.

Andy described how women had been the ‘Cinderellas of cricket’ until Viking came along … and the media certainly liked that news angle.

One of the players who now uses Viking equipment is England cricket star Emma Lamb, an opening batter who scored her first century in international cricket against South Africa last summer.

She said: “When I began playing I used to get a lot of my brother’s hand-me-down kit and it just didn’t fit. There really was nothing available for girls and women and Viking Cricket has helped to change all that and made such an important difference.

“The bats I used were so heavy and long they even left an indent in my arm every time I hit the ball. Women’s cricket has really lagged behind when it comes to equipment such as bats, pads and gloves that needed to be specifically designed for women.

“I now always use a Viking bat as it’s lighter and a bit shorter but means I just feel so comfortable when I play and that makes all the difference.”

The story was published in media across the north of England including the Lancashire Evening Post, the Yorkshire Post, Huddersfield Hub, The Huddersfield Examiner and Keighley News.

Geoff was delighted as he’d struggled to find a PR company that could get him free editorial coverage.

He said: “AH! PR have been a massive help with our PR and I honestly don’t know what we could do without Andy's expertise and help.

“AH! PR have been brilliant. Where others have failed, promised the world and not delivered, Andy has helped us reach a new audience helping tell people about our story, our company and our products.

“If you’re in need of public relations that will really work and if you want a partnership with somebody who genuinely cares about you and your business then, as they say, what are you waiting for?”
